Receiving funding from the Australian Federal Government through the International Science Linkages – Science Academies Programme (ISL-SAP) to fund Frontiers of S&T Missions and Workshops, ATSE supports Australian scientists, from both the public and private sectors, to collaborate with international partners on leading edge science and technology in order to contribute to Australia’s economic, social and environmental wellbeing. ISL – SAP provides targeted support to Australia’s scientific academies for specific activities using their networks and expertise to promote international S&T collaboration involving Australians.
Through the generous support from ATSE Fellows, their colleagues and organisations, the funding by DIISR in support of international S&T activities as part of the ISL-SAP is significantly enhanced. With a Fellowship of over 800 ATSE is able to draw on expertise from a broad range of disciplines in the science, engineering and technological disciplines.
To strengthen and further the objectives of ISL – SAP, ATSE extends an offer to Australian Researchers an opportunity to submit expressions of interest for international activities during the financial year 2009-2010.
Please note ATSE will not fund the following activities:
- Conference sponsorship
- Attendance or participation in conferences
- Collaborative research projects
- Postdoctoral or Fellowship exchanges

The Australia India Science and Technology Research Award for International Travel 2010 |
The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE), in association with the Australia-India Council, has launched a new program to optimise the skills of Australian and Indian leading early career researchers through the Australia India Science and Technology Research Award.
This Award, which aims to promote strong research collaboration links between Australia and India; recognise excellence in SET for early career Australian and Indian researchers, assist in the development of international links while enhancing Australia-India joint research projects by information and skill sharing, will facilitate a two way exchange between Australian and Indian Young Scientists (under 40 years of age) in early 2010. It will fund one Australian early career scientist to undertake a three month research placement in India and one Indian early career scientist to travel to Australia to complete a three month research placement, during the first half of 2010.
The Award topic reflects the national research priorities of Australia and India. In 2010 the topic is 'Energy generation in a low carbon future'.
