Missions & Delegations

Through ATSE’s strong global linkages, thanks to ATSE Fellows, the relationship with International Academies, and international Embassies and Governmental Departments, ATSE has been heavily involved in successful missions and delegations of Australian representatives’ overseas as well as international colleagues to Australia.

Linking Researchers

ATSE conducts a strategic program of missions, workshops and delegations with countries of strategic importance and in priority technologies to address Australia's economic, social and environmental challenges through leveraging of Australia's investment in science and innovation.

With the support of the Australian Government, opportunities are provided for researchers to establish networks and to identify and engage in collaborative research.

Targeted schemes offered by ATSE focus on the exchange of Young Scientists with China and Korea, and Emerging Research Leaders with Singapore and Japan, while theme-based workshops bring together researchers from Australia and partner countries to examine key issues facing the two countries.

In partnership with the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) and the Australian Academy of Science (AAS), ATSE organises a high level annual Australia-China Symposium, which alternates between each country on topics of national importance.

To facilitate follow up on these important S&T collaborations initiatives, the Next Step Initiative has been established to provide funds to facilitate follow up negotiation to develop and establish S&T collaborative initiatives to expand collaborative research activities into end use application and the market place. This is seen as an important program to progress international linkages.
