Professor Lyn Beazley FTSE, Chief Scientist of Western Australia – honoured for her research underpinning therapeutic approaches to brain repair and her promotion, as Chief Scientist in WA, of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Dr Jeremy Burdon FTSE, Chief, CSIRO Plant Industry, Canberra – honoured for his major contributions, as a scientist and senior science manager, to plant-based agriculture and conservation in Australia. Professor Ashley Bush FTSE, Head, Oxidation Biology Laboratory, Mental Health Research Institute of Victoria – honoured for his world-renowned research into advancing understanding and treatment of Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. Professor Mark Bush FTSE, Winthrop Professor Mechanical Engineering, University of Western Australia – honoured for his outstanding research in rheology and biomedical materials and his significant contributions to dental crown design. Dr Ronald Cameron FTSE, Executive General Manager: Strategy, Government and International Relations, Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, Sydney – honoured for his international leadership in nuclear science and technology, risk engineering, international nuclear policy and public debate. Professor David Cohen FTSE, Senior Principal Research Scientist, Accelerator Science Project, Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, Sydney – honoured for his identification of the serious health implications of fine particulates through his world-class expertise in ion beam technology. Dr Frank de Hoog FTSE, Chief Scientist, CSIRO Mathematical and Information Sciences, Canberra – honoured for his exceptional insights and major impact on key industrial processes through mathematical research. Professor Benjamin Eggleton FTSE, Federation Fellow and Research Director CUDOS (ARC Centre of Excellence for Ultrahigh bandwidth Devices for Optical Systems), University of Sydney – honoured for his internationally recognised contributions to photonics both in university and industrial settings. Professor Simon Foote FTSE, Director of the Menzies Research Institute at the University of Tasmania – honoured as a leading medical researcher with an outstanding record in spinning out commercial opportunities from human health biotechnology research. Ms Katherine Hirschfeld FTSE, Managing Director and Refinery Manager, BP Refinery, Bulwer Island, Brisbane – honoured for her energetic engineering leadership and passionate advocacy for women in technology. Professor Sritawat Kitipornchai FTSE, Chair, Professor and Head, Department of Building and Construction, City University of Hong Kong – honoured for his outstanding research science and published work in structural engineering and mechanics. Professor Peter Lee FTSE, Vice Chancellor, Southern Cross University, Lismore – honoured for his internationally recognised commercialised developments in process control innovation and his contributions to engineering education.
