Australia’s mining sector is an essential contributor to our economy and way of life. To ensure its economic and social sustainability, Australia’s mineral resources sector must effectively address the sector’s environmental impacts. Recognising this, the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE) has developed an Action Statement calling for the sector to proactively address Australia’s abandoned mine legacy; improve environmental assessments and management; and enhance community engagement.
To launch this statement, ATSE and the Institute of Sustainable Futures are bringing together leaders from the mineral resources industry, government and research communities for an engaging panel discussion on the future of environmental management in the mineral resources sector.
The discussion will be followed by an informal networking session.
