You are invited on a wonderful 4-day, 3-night guided tour to Hobart and environs, specifically designed for ATSE Fellows and their partners.
Enjoy the delights of the historic Battery Point, Salamanca Place, the vibrant Hobart waterfront, Mount Wellington and the Royal Botanical Gardens.
Our visit includes a 1-day cruise to Bruny Island, one of Tasmania's most beautifully preserved natural environments. Bruny Island boasts some of Tasmania’s most superb scenery of sweeping beaches mountains and spectacular capes and bays, and also has a fascinating history. Hobart is the hub of Australia’s research effort on the southern oceans, fisheries and climatology.
We tour the CSIRO Marine Laboratory and the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies and, depending on access, visit the 94-m research vessel RV Investigator, which provides blue water research in the southern ocean.
We fly directly from Sydney to Hobart (and return) with Qantas. Transport around Hobart is by luxury coach, with accommodation at the 4-star Fountainside Hotel in the heart of the CBD. We’ll experience a number of selected environmentally and historically orientated tours with informed commentary by a local guide.
Fellow and partners wishing to extend their stay can do so, subject to availability on later Qantas flights.
