
Dr Abed Chaudury

Dr Abed Chaudhury has 25+ years of experience as a researcher. He received his Ph.D. in 1984 in Molecular Biology from the University of Oregon.
Since then, he has worked as Head of Research at Loam Bio, Director at Vitagrain and VitaRice, Principal Scientist at Syngenta Australia and New Zealand, and as a Senior Principal Research Scientist at the CSIRO where he pioneered the work on fertilisation independent seed (FIS) and established the foundation of work on polycomb group genes in seed development. He has also contributed to the development many varieties of crops that are important for human nutrition such as black rice, black tomato and glucose reducing rice.
