ATSE ACTIVATE LGBTQIA+ scholarship Guidelines

Scholarship to receive a full ticket for “ACTIVATE 2022, 25 – 27 October, 2022.”

  1. The scholarship provider is the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (“ATSE”) (ABN 58 008 520 394), 28 National Circuit, Forrest, ACT, Australia.
  2. Scholarship applications are open to Australian residents who identify as LGBTQIA+ and work and/or study science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM). Employees, directors and officers of ATSE or any person associated with providing the scholarship, or any organisation or individual associated with the provision of the scholarship are not eligible to enter.
  3. Each submission must be made in accordance with these Guidelines. By applying for the scholarship, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Guidelines. Applications not submitted in accordance with the Guidelines may be deemed ineligible. Information on how to apply and scholarship details form part of these Guidelines.
  4. All applicants who meet eligibility requirements and answer the three questions outlined in the application will be considered for the ACTIVATE LGBTQIA+ scholarship. This includes symposium passes, an ATSE Awards Gala dinner invitation, travel, accommodation and meal allowance for the ACTIVATE 2022 symposium, 25 – 27 October, 2022.   6. The application period commences at 11:59pm on Tuesday 4 October 2022 and closes Wednesday 12 October 2022 at midnight. Any application received before or after the application period may be ineligible and no responsibility will be accepted for lost, late or misdirected applications.
  7. ATSE may at its absolute discretion remove or reject any application for any reason whatsoever.
  8. Each application warrants that its entry does not breach the copyright or other intellectual property rights or privacy rights of any other person.
  9. The scholarships will be assessed on originality, creativity, and applicability by a panel of ATSE staff and ACTIVATE scholarship sponsors on Thursday 13 October 2022.
  10. The successful scholarship recipients will be notified within seven business days via email and phone, if a phone number is provided. The scholarship is not transferable or exchangeable or redeemable for cash. We will make reasonable efforts to ensure winners receive their scholarship. Where we are not able to reach successful applicants despite making reasonable efforts to do so the scholarship will be reassigned.
  11. If there are any unclaimed scholarships, a second assessment will be conducted following the same criteria on Monday 17 October at the same time and place as the original assessment. The new successful scholarship recipient will be contacted by email and phone within two business days. A scholarship will be deemed to be unclaimed if we have been unable to contact the scholar through the contact details provided by 11.59 pm on Sunday 16 October 2022.
  12. By applying for this scholarship, applicants grant permission for their answers to be used by ATSE for internal and promotional purposes. Scholarship recipients agree to participate in ATSE’s public communication of the scholarships.
  13. Scholarship recipients agree to conduct themselves in accordance with ATSE’s Code of Conduct before and during the event, and while representing or otherwise involved with ATSE. This includes respect, integrity, transparency, inclusion, collaboration, excellence and independence.
  14. Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded including any statutory consumer guarantees, ATSE, nor any of their respective officers, employees and agents will be liable for any injury, damages, expenses, or loss whatsoever (whether direct or consequential) to persons or property as a result of any person entering the application process or accepting or using the scholarship, including without limitation, failure of any scholarship recipient to contact the ATSE.
