ATSE Fellow announced as next Vice-Chancellor of ANU

The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) welcomes the appointment of Distinguished Professor Genevieve Bell AO FAHA FTSE as the next Vice-Chancellor of the Australian National University (ANU).

ATSE Fellow Professor Genevieve Bell is the current Director of the School of Cybernetics at the ANU – of which she founded – and a Vice President and Senior Fellow in the advanced research and development labs at Intel Corporation. Professor Bell is a leader at the intersection of cultural practice and technology development and is an important voice in global debates around AI and human society.

A renowned anthropologist, technologist, and futurist, Professor Bell was elected to the Academy in 2018 for her combined industry and academic impact, advocacy of diversity and gender equity and mentorship of future leaders.

Professor Bell will commence as Vice-Chancellor on 1 January 2024 following the current Vice-Chancellor, Professor Brian Schmidt AC FAA FRS steps down at the end of this year.
