The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) welcomes the strong focus on innovation, industry and energy in the Coalition’s shadow ministry.
ATSE extends its congratulations to the Hon Melissa Price MP on her appointment as Shadow Minister for Cyber Security and Science: the Academy looks forward to collaborating with the Hon Ms Price again in advancing Australia’s science and technology agenda.
The new shadow ministers have an important role in policy development over the next three years across science, innovation and energy.
ATSE acknowledges the critical role the shadow portfolio team for industry, energy, and emissions reduction will play during this pivotal period of transition, and looks forward to engaging constructively with the Shadow Minister for Energy & Emissions Reduction, the Hon Dan Tehan MP; Shadow Minister for Industry & Innovation, the Hon Alex Hawke MP; and Shadow Assistant Minister for Energy & Emissions Reduction, Senator Dean Smith.
ATSE CEO Kylie Walker says: “The new shadow ministers have an important role in policy development over the next three years across science, innovation and energy. We look forward to engaging with the shadow ministers to provide independent expert advice drawing on ATSE’s network of Fellows.”
ATSE also welcomes Senator Jonathon Duniam as Shadow Minister for Education & Early Learning. As the education sector progresses through the implementation of the Universities Accord recommendations, we urge him to work constructively and collaboratively on education policy.
Finally, ATSE acknowledges the service of outgoing shadow ministers, including outgoing Shadow Minister for Science Senator Claire Chandler.
