Australia’s tech and engineering academy said today it was looking forward to working collaboratively with the new Shadow Ministry, announced this week.
In particular, the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) congratulated Aaron Violi on his appointment as Shadow Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation.
ATSE also looks forward to a positive and constructive relationship with newly appointed shadow Ministers, including Julian Leeser as Shadow Minister for Education and Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians, Andrew Hastie as Shadow Minister for Industry and Sovereign Capability, and Garth Hamilton as Shadow Assistant Minister for Energy Security and Affordability, as well as other members of the Shadow Ministry.
“As Australia’s tech and engineering Academy, we have a long and proud history of working with all sides of government to provide independent expert advice,” said ATSE CEO Professor Kylie Walker AM.
“This advice comes from our national Fellowship of leaders, guiding our nation’s responses to some of the most complex challenges and biggest opportunities – from how to mitigate and adapt to climate change to how to best harness technology like AI to build resilience and capability.
“As we have always done, I have no doubt that ATSE’s expertise will cut through the noise and we’ll keep delivering high-quality, expert-led, and independent policy advice to the Government, the Opposition, and the whole Parliament.
“We know that the new Shadow Minister for Science, Aaron Violi, has a keen interest in digital technologies and innovation, and particularly look forward to working with him on these and other important issues.
“Investing in science and technology is critical for Australia to be globally competitive – something that’s crucial and relevant across every portfolio and very industry.”
