The Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering welcomes the opportunity to provide input to the question posed by ARENA.

The Academy agrees that the proposed priority areas are the right focus for ARENA, with some additions as proposed in our submission.
However, it is not clear that the proposed shift in priorities will make a difference in practice. The draft priorities are written in general terms and need to be more specific to maximise their impact.
