Strategic advice

Our submission to the NSW government towards development of a Digital Inclusion Strategy to ensure that all residents of NSW have equitable access to essential services and economic and social opportunities in the digital age.

ATSE welcomes the First Nations Digital Inclusion Advisory Group’s initiative to develop a Roadmap for First Nations Digital Inclusion. This submission draws on the input of ATSE Fellows and participants in our STEM Careers programs – including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people - to put forward the following evidence-based recommendations for developing the roadmap.

ATSE’s submission considers that a coordinated response is needed to adopt and regulate AI and ensure continued public participation in AI-related decisions. AI can grow industries to be globally competitive and create new and high-paying jobs.

Unlike many traditional industries, AI development requires comparatively lower upfront capital and is less constrained by geographical factors, allowing the sector to quickly move and adapt to ever changing market conditions.

We developed, applied and refined the methodological approach to assessing industry technology readiness, and have applied the methodology to assess other issues.

ATSE has provided input to develop the draft National Quantum Strategy, focusing on the themes of research, infrastructure, talent and the quantum start-up landscape.
