ATSE supports the introduction of regulatory frameworks for autonomous vehicles that promote innovation and rapid time to market of new technologies, while still ensuring safety.
ATSE recommends manufacturers carry out the testing of new autonomous vehicle technologies, provided certification is mandatory and Government specifies the test procedures and continues to monitor safety events. The submission also outlines a range of definitions that should be incorporated in new methodologies for certifying vehicle safety.
