Professor Zelinsky is a world-class researcher in the robotics and computer vision fields who has made substantive technical contributions in addition to providing leadership to the scientific community. He is internationally recognised for his pioneering work in developing a novel technology for computer vision based human-machine interaction. This work has been recognised as a key breakthrough technology by his peers, industry and the wider community. Professor Zelinsky has maximised the potential benefits of his work to Australia by founding a company called Seeing Machines to commercialise the new technology. Seeing Machines is a commercial success, it is recognised as the world leader in its field, as well as one of Australia's most innovative IT companies.
