Professor McLean is recognised internationally for the application of his pioneering research into key
.;ausative factors of road crashes and resulting personal injury. He is an authority on alcohol consumption and traffic safety, brain injury in crashes and travelling speed and crash risk. He has worked with legislators, regulators, industry and law enforcement agencies to effect substantial improvements in road safety. Foundation director of the NH&MRC Road Accident Research Unit, he directs the Centre for Automotive Safety Research, University of Adelaide with a research budget of $10 million over 10 years provided by the SA Government to save more lives and prevent injury .
