Biography at time of election

Alison Ord is an internationally acclaimed structural geologist who, over the past 20 years, has been responsible for introducing computer modelling technologies into the Australian and international structural and economic geology communities with an emphasis on targeting procedures for mineralising systems. These technologies have been used by industry for Witswatersrand gold, Outokumpu copper, Irish lead-zinc, targeting in the Western Australian Yilgarn, particularly Wallaby, Canadian uranium and in discovering blind mineralisation at the Stawell gold deposits. Her outstanding contribution lies in developing rigorous coupling between deformation, fluid-flow and thermal transport that has been successfully used in targeting mineralisation by many companies
