Biography at time of election

Andrew Holmes is a named inventor on over 50 patents in the area of optoelectronic materials and in the applications of supercritical carbon dioxide as an environmentally friendly solvent for synthesis and processing organic and polymeric materials. He lead the Chemistry component of the Cambridge team that discovered light emitting polymers and the founding of Cambridge Display Technology. He is the co-recipent of the Descartes Prize of the EU and the second most highly cited author in physical science of the last decade in the UK.
