Biography at time of election

Professor Middelberg's research and its application have made significant contributions to biomanufacturing both within Australia and the international biotechnolgy industries. He is widely published and is named on many patents, and has been a consultant to international Fortune 100 companies and successful biotechnology start-ups. He has editorial roles on all significant chemical engineering journals as well as 'Trends in Biotechnology'. He had developed stimuli-responsive peptide polymers of broad functionality and devised green methods for their manufacture. His research has been directly applied to design GroPep's successful manufacturing process for export growth factor proteins, and recently has helped an MIT spin-out company biomanufacture protein to treat autoimmune diseases.
