Since retirement from General Manger, Chemicals Group at Orica, I have held positions as Non-Executive Director on a number of public company boards. These are Incitec Pivot Limited, Biota Holdings Limited, St Barbara Mines Limited, Penrice Soda Holdings Limited, Graincorp limited and United Malt Limited. My particular interest was in SHE, Manufacturing and Marketing. I retired from all Boards in 2022.

Barbara Gibson has proved herself in the pharmaceutical industry. As Manager of the ICI Limited Diagnostics New Venture Group she was instrumental in the acquisition of "Silenus Laboratories", "Monoclonal Australia" and their incorporation into the ICI Pharmaceuticals Division.

From this position she was appointed Corporate Research Manager of ICI where she was responsible for the close realignment between R&D and the Business Groups' operations. She was then appointed General Manager, Corporate Advisory Group and subsequently General Manager of the Advanced, Sciences Group - ICI's polyurethanes, adhesives and pharmaceuticals businesses, with some 560 staff and $400 million sales.

Dr Gibson stands out as an outstanding graduate and manager. She is also an excellent adminstrator which has been acknowledged by appointment to the IR&D Board and the IR&D Grants Tax Concession Committee, the ARC's Collaborative Grants Committee and the ASTEC Reference Group on.
