Dr Cooper's achievements are primarily in the area of transfer of technology from research to industry.

He has extensive background in communication and space related systems and has made major contributions to the Interscan Microwave Landing System.

His expertise is acknowledged by his appointment as international adviser for the Australian Government and as technical committee member for the Microwave Landing System on the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
He has also co-ordinated ground support in Australia for both NASA and ESA deep space missions and is at present Principal Co-ordinator for an industry developed science package for a USSR radioastonomy satellite.

Dr Cooper 's other achievements are in the case of interfacing the results of research being undertaken in the Division of Radiophysics to industrial liaison and successful commercialisation in the areas of geophysical imaging, solid state including gallium arsenide microwave devices and antenna systems.
