Mr. D.J.Little has had a distinguished career as a professional civil engineer since he graduated in 1948. He was employed by the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission of Victoria, in positions of increasing responsibility, from 1948 until 1972 when he became a Commissioner.

From 1974 he spent two years as Chairman of the Environment Protection Authority and then became Director General of Public Works, a position he still holds.

He is a Past President of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, having played an important part in Division, College and National affairs for many years.
He is an Officer of the Order of Australia.
