Mr Price was appointed an Assistant Director of the Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation (SMEC) in 1970. From that time he was instrumental in establishing SMEC firmly in the international field, necessitating the adaption of SMEC's engineering techniques to work in a great variety of countries. Mr Price has been Director of SMEC since 1975 and has directed its activities in 25 countries outside Australia, firmly establishing SMEC's international reputation for technical excellence and innovation. SMEC has become a leader in some technical fields, including hydrology. An example of this is the 'Hydrological Model of the Upper Nile Basin', recently submitted to the Academy as an Innovation in Australian Technology.
