Dr Derry Doyle's technology and research interests are related to the interaction of sliding surfaces. He has made major original contributions to knowledge in this field and in its applications.

He is an outstanding technologist, able to blend the rigour of scientific investigation with the practical demands of engineering design and production. Currently he holds simultaneous appointments as the General Manager of a company producing wear resistant surfaces and also as Associate Professor of a university.

As a researcher, he has achieved effective industrial application of many of his findings and, as a Company Manager, he has been able to turn commercial difficulties into profitable and expanding success.
