Professor Weigold is distinguished both by his outstanding leadership as well as his excellence in research. He is the present Secretary of Physical Sciences of the Australian Academy of Sciences and former Vice-President. He has served on the Australia Prize selection committee. He is a Board Member of the Australian Photonics Cooperative Research Centre, the largest CRC in Australia. His research excellence is recognized by being a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Sciences and recipient of its Lyle Medal.
Professor Weigold is presently Director of the Research School of Physical Sciences and Engineering in the Institute of Advanced Studies at The Australian National University.
