Dr. Rizzardo has made outstanding contributions to polymer science and technology and is an effective leader and manager at senior levels. The scientific merit of his work on polymerization mechanisms and polymer synthesis has been recognised by numerous invitations to international conferences and by the awards of a CSIRO Medal (1990), the CSIRO Chairman's Gold medal (1992) and the RACI Australian Polymer Medal (1992). A number of his inventions are currently being utilised to produce commercial products in a strategic alliance with Du Pont. Dr. Rizzardo's leadership and management skills are evidenced by his appointments as Program Manager in CSIRO, Chairman of the RACI Polymer Division and Director of the CRC for Polymer Blends.
