Distinguished Professor Fang Chen is a global authority on data science and AI, delivering transformative impact across critical infrastructure. Her predictive analytics platform for managing major assets has been adopted globally by more than 30 utilities, delivering billions in estimated economic benefit and social impact. This includes predictive water infrastructure management, Sydney Harbour Bridge structural monitoring, multimodal transport resilience optimisation and intelligent congestion management. She also pioneered multimodal cognitive load measurement systems deployed in many emergency management centres, strengthening decision-making under pressure. She has contributed deep technical expertise to national innovation strategy and policy, and to Australia’s first public sector AI Assurance Framework in NSW. Her translation of deep technology into measurable societal, environmental and economic outcomes has been recognised by the Eureka Prize for Excellence in Data Science, the NSW Premier’s Prize for Science and Engineering and Transport Woman of the Year award.
