Professor Fariba Dehghani is a chemical engineer and entrepreneur globally recognised for engineering biomaterials with real-world health and sustainability applications. Her expertise spans material synthesis, processing and scale‐up, enabling translation of laboratory discoveries into commercial products. She has led the development of advanced materials and technologies adopted by major industry partners, including innovative medical implants, biosensors for monitoring food safety and sterilisation technologies. She is an award‐winning mentor and an inclusive leader building research capacity, with almost 200 trainees (comprising more than 50% women) going on to secure leadership roles in academia and industry, including six successful companies founded in New South Wales. She has also contributed to establishing the University of Sydney’s Women in STEM mentoring program. Through her longstanding service to the Australian Research Council, she has contributed in shaping national research priorities and expert funding guidance.
