Biography at time of election

Frank de Hoog is an internationally recognised applied mathematician who used mathematics to deliver exceptional insights from which he has made a major impact on the viability of key industrial processes in a range of industries, particularly in manufacturing and mining.

His original and innovative research, particularly in fast computational algorithms, numerical solution of differential and integral equations, numerical algorithms for matrices and industrial modelling has made a seminal contribution to applied and industrial mathematics.

He continues to make a distinguished contribution as a research leader through external focus, development of new research areas and mentoring younger scientists.
