Professor Stevens is an internationally recognised scientist and engineer in separation process technology. He has been responsible for the development of new solvent extraction techniques that have been incorporated into Australian processing plants. His research on the measurement and understanding of interfacial phenomena at liquid­liquid interfaces has been recognized internationally. As Head of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering he has reposited The University of Melbourne into a new future. He is a Senior Board Member of several leading International Journals.
