Mr Moriarty is a very senior and highly skilled executive in the growth industries of telecommunications, electronics, and infonnation technology, and has built this position from a sound engineering technology base. Although not yet 50, he exercises major influence both within the national Telstra Corporation and within the broader industry policy setting framework of Government.
He has demonstrated, over a period of 25 years, a high ability to apply technological research and development to widespread practical use in both the fields of broadcasting and telecommunications, in both Australia and New Zealand.
Over recent years Mr Moriarty has operated at the highest management levels within Telstra· Corporation. As Managing Director of Network Products he was directly responsible for reshaping the electronic supply industry arrangements for Telstra with impact on over $1 billion per annum. Subsequently, as the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Telstra Multimedia Pty Ltd he is instrumental in formulating strategic policy and technology deployment for the new growth areas of pay TV, information superhighways, and advanced broadband value added services.
