Dr Pearman has shown outstanding national and international leadership and scientific research in atmospheric composition and global climate change. His contributions to understanding the global carbon cycle, critical to projections of the future climate change and climate change mitigation, and his contributions to leadership in atmospheric science as Chief of Division in CSIRO have been outstanding. As member of the Australian Academy of Sciences, and as office holder on high level national and international scientific committees he contributes to scientific capacity building. His high-level briefings on global climate change, related energy issues and sustainability to Government, industry, business and the community has been (and continues to be) are highly influential.
