Biography at time of election

Graham Davies has achieved an international reputation for his research into opto-electronic circuits for telecommunications applications, and for advances in the growth of III-V semiconductors for these devices. Distinguished for 30 years of innovative leadership of research at British Telecom, he also led the development of sophisticated tools for research management. He is now Dean of Engineering at the University of New South Wales where he has been entrepreneurial in strengthening the University?s links between industry and its engineering research and in improving the education of engineers. His contributions at the national level have led to his being recognised in the nation?s top 100 engineers. Professor Davies is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK).
