Dr. Clark merits election on a record of outstanding achievement in both research management and research leadership.

Firstly, as the inaugural Director of Science and Technology for IBM (Australia) he has initiated that company's R&D policy, resulting in major R&D alliances with Australian government and university laboratories. He -contributes to R&D's management at the national level through membership of ASTEC and the CRC adjudicating panel.
Secondly, he has a distinguished international reputation for the creative use of ion, electron and photon beams for both fundamental and applied studies in condensed matter, atomic, nuclear physics and in geophysics.

He has made important contributions to the exploration and processing of Uranium and other ores in Australia. He has received national and international honours in recognition of his achievements.
