Dr Harry Greaves, Head of the CSIRO Forest Products Laboratory, is a world authority on wood preservation. Working on the interface between biology and chemistry, he has initiated, carried out, directed, patented and commercialized much significant research, including, recently, the development of environmentally acceptable emulsion preservatives (PEC and PROCCA) and in situ remedial treatment systems
for timber structures.

He has also led the development of national and international standards/protocols for the preservation industry.

Dr Greaves has wide management responsibilities and excellent skills as a manager and research director, and he
has contributed greatly to international organizations and to Australian industry.
