Biography at time of election

Iain Mason is an eminent applied physicist/engineer with a well established international reputation for his scientific and technical achievements. He has done pioneering work over a broad range of applications - in sonics/ultrasonics, geophysical instrumentation, seismic signal processing and borehole radar development. He was the originator of several new techniques now routinely used in the resources industry for imaging the Earth and improving mine safety. His technical innovations have saved many lives, won major awards and saved the resources industry many millions of dollars each year.
