Dr Sare is a research engineer who has made fundamental discoveries on the relationship between the microstructure and both surface and bulk properties of ferrous alloys, which have been applied to great economic advantage in the Australian sugar, steel and mining industries. Dr Sare has proved himself an excellent leader and manager in his period as Chief of the CSIRO Division of Manufacturing Technology.
