Ian Williamson holds the Chair of Surveying and Land Informatidn at The University of Melbourne. He has been Pro-Vice-Chancellor and President of the Academic Board. He is a Fellow of both the Institution of Surveyors, Australia and the Institution of Engineers, Australia and is a Fullbright Scholar. He is currently Chairperson of the Commission responsible for Cadastre and Land Management of the International Federation of Surveyors. His teaching, research and international consulting is concerned with the design and operation of cadastral and land information systems. In 1997 he received the Medal of the Institution of Surveyors, Australia.
