After a lifetime of teaching, research and international activities in animal and population genetics (University lecturing ceased in 1993, and my latest research paper was published in 2021), I am fully retired.

Biography at time of election

WelI-known in field of Population genetics and its application to animal
breeding. Foundation President of Australian Association of Animal Breeding and Genetics, whose aim is to bring together research workers, extension officers and livestock producers.

Chairman since 1976 of Farm Animals Section of the Society for the Advancement of Breeding Researches in Asia and Oceania (SABRAO), and Chairman since 1978 of SABRAO Expert Committee on Animal Genetic Resources (AGR); in this capacity led organisation of Workshops on AGR (Japan, 1979, Malaysia 1981 and continuing) which aim to document and evaluate local domestic livestock, as a way of stimulating the rural economy and increasing food production in the region.

Has trained post-graduate students at Sydney University,and Indonesian Universities in association with the Asian/Australian Universities Co-operative Scheme.

Has given invited papers on application of genetics to animal-breeding in many workshops and conferences, in Australia and overseas, and has been a member
of various expert panels associated with animal production in Australia.

Author of over 100 scientific papers, both in theory and application.
