Jennifer Wythes is one of Queensland's and Australia's most outstanding applied scientists. She was among the first to recognise the need for improved technology to transport animals from the farm, convert them to meat, and provide consumers with a high quality and safe product. She pioneered research in this area and her knowledge and expertise, coupled with her eloquence and clear thinking, has seen her progress to the peak research and regulatory bodies in the meat (and general food) industry in Australia. Her efforts have directly generated organisational and structural changes in the meat industry that have had profound influence on the efficiency of one of the nations major export earning industries.
