Mr John Grace AO FTSE FAICD Director

John Grace is the Director of his consulting company TechAdvisory Pty Ltd. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of NSW and is an officer of the Order of Australia and a Fellow of the Institute of Company Directors. John has worked in the biotechnology research commercialisation space for over 50 years. He is a Director of KCA and Chair of the SCOPR Committee. He was the Chief Executive Officer for 11 years of AMRAD a listed company commercialising medical research technology. He has been a member of a number of government committees and private company boards, in the most recent, serving as the Chair of UniSA Ventures. He was a Vice President of ATSE and served on the ATSE board over a period of ten years. His award as an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2018 was for his contribution to biotechnology research and its commercialisation.

Biography at time of election

John Grace has been Managing Director of AMRAD since 1990 and has guided its growth to its current capitalisation of $250million.

He has previously established a business for the production of cheese-making bacteria for Mauri Labs, and was a founding executive of CSIRO's commercialisation company Sirotech Ltd, specialising in Biotechnology.

He serves on a number of Boards, has been a member of the IR&D Board, and was fonnerly President of the Australian Biotechnology Association.

John Grace is proposed for membership of the Academy on the grounds of his demonstrated ability to manage and commercialise Australian R&D and his contribution to the broader scientific community.
