Professor Emeritus Lindsay Falvey FTSE, FAIAS is, in 2024, a Commissioner for International Agricultural Research, Chair of the Asia-Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions, Emeritus Fellow and Past Chair of the International Livestock Research Institute, Life Councillor of the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria, Life Member of Clare Hall University of Cambridge, Kitimisak of the Thai Agricultural Science Society under Royal Patronage, Emeritus Professor and Former Dean of Agriculture Forestry and Horticulture at the University of Melbourne, and Visiting Professor at two Thai universities. Recipient of the highest awards and medals in his field, he has authored some 20 books. Biography at time of election

Lindsay Falvey has, at a relatively young age, amassed exceptional experience in research and development, blending work in public and private sector, commerce and academia. In more than 100 projects over 20 years and in some 60 countries, he has developed, adapted and applied mixes of technologies to meet agricultural, environmental and rural community objectives. Examples are the multi-million dollar Mandalay Dairy Development Project, Thailand North East Village Water Resources Project, and Thai Land Titling Project. Under his management, MPW Australia and the Coffee-MPW P/L were the fastest growing and, in 1990, Australia?s largest exporter of agricultural and related consulting services. Consistent success has been recognised in prestigious Awards from the Prime Minister of Thailand and from AusAID and through entrée to Governments and the major international aid and development agencies. His 100 or so publication and technical reports are of both practical and conceptual importance and attest to his motivational leadership of agricultural, engineering and other professionals. As Dean of Australia?s largest Agricultural faculty his influence continues with focus on necessary change in Australian agriculture and development of Australia?s role and influence in Asia.
