He has a distinguished record in the field and many of his original ideas have found their way into standard engineering practice. Romagnoli has a demonstrated ability to combine high level mathematical analysis with practical solutions to engineering problems, allowing his theoretical developments be implemented in applications yielding substantial economic improvements. His role as International Coordinator of the Global Project in Decision Support Systems is a good indication of his international status, where he is managing and coordinating a team of experts from important institutions and companies in several countries. As both a practising academic and a practising professional he will bring a particular understanding of the interrelation of these two major groups to the Academy.
