Biography at time of election

Professor Judy Raper is an outstanding chemical engineer who is responsible for the introduction to Australia of modern techniques for Particle Size Analysis, in particular laser diffraction techniques, and has played a significant role in raising awareness in industry for the need to apply a sound scientific basis to the many industrial particle characterisation applications. She has personally championed its diffusion to industry through the development of a leading edge instrumentation capability and the provision of short training courses over twenty years.
In addition, she has made a seminal contribution to the reconceptualisation and restructuring of undergraduate engineering education through an emphasis on student-centered learning via responsibility for interdisciplinary, unbound projects.
