Professor Laura Poole-Warren AM FTSE Professor
Laura holds the position of Professor in Biomedical Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and serves as the co-Director of the Tyree Institute of Health Engineering. Throughout her career she has demonstrated her commitment to the advancement of knowledge and innovation in various roles, including Pro Vice-Chancellor at UNSW, preclinical scientist in the MedTech industry, and a decade-long tenure as a member of the Australian Government Therapeutic Goods Administration statutory expert committee on the safety of medical devices. In her current capacities, she channels her expertise towards facilitating the translation of research into practical applications and nurturing the careers of early-career academics. Recognised for her outstanding contributions, Laura was honoured in January 2020 as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her exemplary service to Biomedical Engineering and education.

Professor Laura Poole-Warren has made outstanding, sustained contributions to the field of biomedical engineering, both nationally and internationally, for over 25 years. As an exceptional innovator, mentor & role model for young women in engineering, the level of respect she enjoys across the tertiary sector, government and industry is clear from her string of senior appointments and influential roles. Moreover, as a proven, valuable contributor to many important committees, boards and panels, she would be an exceptional addition to the Fellowship.
