Dr Golley has earned distinction for his research and leadership in the development of Australian Over-the-Horizon Radar (OTHR).

His work both as an individual researcher and a team leader, was pivotal in the successful development and testing of the Jindalee experimental radar. His advice was a key input to the Government's decision to acquire the $1 billion Jindalee radar network.

As Chief of DSTO's High Frequency Radar Division. Dr Golley continues to provide leadership and high level support on OTHR matters to Government and industry. and be is recognised here and overseas as Australia's foremost current authority on OTHR and its use.
