Dr Mary Rose has for many years been a leading figure in the application of genetics to sheep breeding. She has not only conducted theoretical research but is well known and respected in the industry or her work in applying research results in practice. The value of her work has twice been recognised by the Australian Wool Corporation in the grant of assistance to take an external M.Sc. from the University of New South Wales and a three-year scholarship for a Ph.D. from the University of Queensland.
Dr. Rose fulfils the criteria, e.g. demonstrating both achievement and leadership in work which is of value to the community.
