Weste is Australia's leading expert in the field of complementary metal oxide silicon (CMOS) integrated circuits and was co­founder of Radiata Communications with David Skellern FI'SE in 1997. Radiata was Australia's most successful start-up and implemented the world's first CMOS chipset solutions to the IEEE 802.1 la Wireless Local Area network standard. Weste's career in the USA, which concentrated on design techniques for integrated circuits, influenced many existing commercial computer-aided design companies. A textbook co-authored by Weste (now in its third edition) has been the leading undergraduate text worldwide in CMOS digital design for over twenty years.
