Outstanding personal and leadership contributions to:
- The advancement of technology and technology transfer in the electricity industry
- The promotion of R&D and engineering education for the electricity industry, including a leading role in the establishment, by Pacific Power, of The Advanced Technology Centre as well as the endowment by Pacific Power of two chairs, one in Power Engineering, the other in Fuels and Combustion, at the University of Newcastle, and also the commitment by PP of 0.5% of total revenue ( currently amounting to ..:.$16 million per year ) for R&D for the electricity industry.
- The international promotion of Australian coals and the technology for their usi'-lJl power generation, particularly in the Asia Pacific region.
