Hon Dr Parwinder Kaur MLC is a distinguished scientist, award-winning innovation leader and Member of the Parliament of Western Australia, advancing science, technology and inclusive public policy. A DNA expert, her work advanced biodiversity genomics, agricultural resilience and translational biotechnology. Dr Kaur founded the Australian chapter for DNA Zoo, a global genomics consortium, enabling the genome sequencing of more than 45 iconic Australian species. Elected in 2025 to the Legislative Council of Western Australia, she has brought scientific depth and inclusive leadership to decision-making. She served as special advisor on the Western Australian 10-year Science and Technology Plan and contributed to the Australian Government’s Pathways to Diversity in STEM Review. She has also established the Parliamentary Friends of Science, Medical Advancement, Research, Technology and Talent (SMARTT) to champion innovation and catalyse collaboration.
