Co-founding Ampcontrol at age 28, Peter Cockbain's drive, technical leadership and innovative product development have grown the company to 850 employeees, nationally respected R&D, testing, certification and manufacturing advanced electrical and electronic equipment for the mining, mineral processing, smelting, refining, oil and gas industries. Unique products, protected by international patents, include equipment for explosive atmospheres and high current DC transformer rectifiers winning numerous Engineering Excellence Awards.

Additionally Peter Cockbain sponsors the Chair of Electric Power Engineering at Newcastle University; founded ResTech (a University partnership research company); and is a Councillor and Engineering Faculty Advisory Board member.
